Artell: "It Is Going To Be Terrific To Have The Fans Back With Us"

15 July 2021

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell says it will be fantastic to have supporters back inside the Mornflake Stadium for our forthcoming home friendly games against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Stoke City and Nottingham Forest and then into the new season.

The Alex will have limited capacity for the visit of Premier League side Wolves on Saturday but that number will be increased when restrictions are lifted by the government on July 19th.

Artell has said that he and the players cannot wait to have the backing of the supporters once again. Crewe had only two league games last season with limited capacity before Covid-19 restrictions were re-introduced.

Artell told the club’s official website: “It will terrific to have the fans back with us. It will be a limited for Wolves but hopefully we will return to full capacity for the other two friendlies.

“The supporters need it, as much as we do. They have missed their matchdays and their chance to see their team in action and we have missed them. The games are not the same without them.

“We just need everyone to be sensible with it and accept that if someone at the club tells you to do something or not do something then it is being asked for the right reasons. It is going to be slightly different and if someone wears a mask or doesn’t wear one then that is their prerogative.

“That is their choice and we have to accept it if steward says stand back or keep a distance there. They will only be doing it to safeguard our health.

The boss added: “We have waited months for it to lead up to this, so I just hope the fans enjoy it as much as we will having them back with us.”
