David Artell says that his Crewe Alexandra side will always try and win football matches by playing the right way. The preparations for pre-season have gone well with no major injuries and we have performed admirably to beat Wolves 1-0, score twice against Stoke after trailing 2-0 at half-time and did likewise to force a draw against Nottingham Forest.
The level of performance dipped in the second half against Oldham Athletic on Tuesday evening, but Artell will be hoping that is a one off 45 minutes. Crewe didn’t conjure up too many genuine chances in the second half to try and discover a second equaliser against the Latics.
Artell told the club’s official website: “We will try and win games by playing our football and moving people around. That is our style and I want people to get on the ball and pass and move.
“If that means we wear teams down and find that real momentum in the last 25 minutes to win the game, then so be it.
“We will try and get that real fluency into the game and it wasn’t there in the second half at Oldham. We want to get that one of the system and more forward.
“We have one or two to come back yet and the preparations have gone well.”
