Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell was pleased that his side was able to play two different systems for each half at Nantwich Town at the weekend.
Crewe ran out comfortable 4-1 winners against the Dabbers but Artell was understandably more pleased that the majority of his squad got 45 minutes under their belts, there were no injuries and that we were able to try two different formations.
The Alex boss is aiming to add a few more strings to the bow tactically and have that flexibility to use during the season.
Artell told the club’s official website: “Playing different systems is going to be important going forward. We did that this time last year but because we played 11 out of 12 weeks, Saturday, Tuesday at the start of the season, it was difficult to do work on it again until January.
“We picked it up again in January and played it a couple of times and at the end of the season, we had the chance to work on one or things again and did in the games as well.
“We are going to keep that going and hopefully it will add another string to our bow and variations of both ways.”
