Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell has revealed that nothing ‘is imminent’ in the transfer market but all could change in as little as 24 hours.
Artell has already signed four new players this season and he has publicly stated that he would like some more new faces to bolster his squad in readiness for the new season.
The Alex boss told crewealex.net: “I would like a few bodies in and we are trying. I would say nothing is imminent at the moment but that could all change inside 24 hours. It can happen that quickly.
“I sense that for a lot of players it is now getting to that crunch time. There are two weeks left before the season starts and they will have to start to make decisions. We just have to make sure we are ready to pick the right ones up.
“I was talking to a chief executive at a Championship club the other day and he was saying that there will be a lot of players becoming available. That doesn’t necessary mean they will be expensive or cheap enough but he was saying there will be a lot without clubs because all clubs have been cutting their cloth accordingly, especially in the Championship.
“That is the way it is at the moment and all we can do is work as hard as we are doing.”
