Club to assess the extent of injuries to both full-backs
Luke Offord’s hamstring injury was described as a ‘bad one’ by David Artell last night. The defender was forced off with the injury just before the half-time interval after committing a foul (for which he was booked) and he had to be replaced by Travis Johnson in the 3-2 win over Bristol Rovers.
Offord had to be helped back to the dressing room and his run of matches in the first-team will come to end against AFC Wimbledon this weekend. Offord has made 34 appearances since breaking into the side almost a year ago.
Crewe also lost left-back, Harry Pickering with a back injury but the club are hopeful that injury is not too serious.
Artell told crewealex.net: “Luke’s injury looks like a bad one. We will have to assess it and I would think he will have a scan soon to assess the extent of the injury. We are hoping for the best case scenario with that one, which would be a few weeks rather than months.
“Harry injured his back. We are not too sure how serious that one. Hopefully it is just a spasm and after treatment he will be back sooner rather than later. We will assess him this week and see how he is for the weekend.”
