Perry Ng Completes Cardiff City Move

Skipper on the move to the Championship after two clubs agree transfer fee.

Crewe Alexandra can confirm that Perry Ng has completed his move to Cardiff City for an undisclosed fee.

The 24-year-old defender has joined the Bluebirds on a three-and-a-half year contract and could make his Championship debut against Queens Park Rangers on Wednesday evening.

The Liverpool-born, Ng, passed his medical at the beginning of the week and agreed personal terms with the Welsh club ahead of his move.

Ng was a late withdrawal from Crewe Alexandra’s away fixture at Plymouth Argyle over the weekend after Cardiff City returned with an improved bid. Olly Lancashire returned to the starting line-up in the 1-1 draw with the Pilgrims with Luke Offord switching to right-back to replace the club captain.

The versatile Ng came through the club’s renowned Academy scheme and made his debut back in November 2015 when replacing Ryan Colclough as a late substitute in a 1-0 win over Oldham Athletic.

He made his full debut for the club in May of that season when starting against Burton Albion at the Alexandra Stadium. He scored his first goal in September 2017 in a 5-1 win over Chesterfield.

Ng became a regular under manager David Artell and would later replace the departing George Ray as captain in 2019 after enjoying his most consistent season for the club. He swept the board as the club’s Player-of-the-Season with both his team-mates and supporters voting him as their top performer.

His exceptional form over 49 games also saw him included in the EFL team of the year for League Two.

In his debut season as captain, he led Crewe Alexandra to automatic promotion and a return to League One.

The Railwaymen were top of the league when the campaign was sadly curtailed in March due to the outbreak of coronavirus. Crewe had to settle for the runner-up spot to Swindon Town on the points per game system.

Overall, Ng made 185 appearances for Crewe Alexandra, scoring 7 times. One fantastic left-footed strike away at Stevenage in March 2018 saw him collect the League Two Goal Of The Month award.

‘Pez’ played in various positions for the club in both defence and midfield and also enjoyed a successful loan spell at non-league Hyde United as a young professional back in the 2014-15 season.

Ng has been a fantastic player, professional and influential captain during his long association with Crewe Alexandra and everyone at the club would like to thank him for his incredible service and wish him all the best in his new venture in South Wales.
