Lunt: "The Players Will Learn From What Happened Against Gillingham"

29 January 2021

Assistant manager Kenny Lunt says lessons have to be learned from Tuesday’s disappointing 4-1 defeat at Gillingham. Crewe never hit the levels of performance that had seen us in the top of the table this season and Lunt says that it is important we bounce back with a positive result against Ipswich tomorrow.

Lunt told the club’s official website: “It was very disappointing and we knew that the run would come to an end at some time. We didn’t know when that was and it has given us time to reflect and learn from it.

“You probably learn more when you lose than when you win. When you go unbeaten for 10 games the momentum builds and it gets you through games.

“When you lose like we did on Tuesday, it is time to reflect and the aim will be to bounce back on Saturday.

He added: “The players know they didn’t hit the standards they have set on Tuesday night and the performances have not been good as a collective in the last two games, so we know we have to improve to get a result against a good Ipswich side.”
