On the verge of marking his 200th game in charge of Crewe Alexandra, David Artell has praised the ‘unwavering support’ he has received from the club’s board during his four years in charge.
During his tenure, Artell has overseen promotion back to League One and build another young side steeped in the Crewe tradition.
Artell told the club’s official website: “I cannot fault our board. They have been terrific with me personally and their support is unwavering.
“That makes my job that little bit easier and it allows me to support the players and staff because I know I will be here for three months, six months, and it allows you to build and implement things.
“It allows me to loan players out as part of their development. It allows me to loan Travis, Luke Offord, Will, Owen Dale and the like and then bring them back and put them in the first team. I get that time and the club reaps the benefits of that 12, 18 months later.
“When we first went in and we lost four on the spin or whatever it wAs and are 17th, 18th in League Two, our board don’t panic. They just say crack on, it will be fine.
“They provide incredible stability and it allows everyone to get on with their jobs and move forward.”
