David Artell says that he would make changes to his starting XI regardless of position or reputation. The Alex boss says that everybody’s place is in jeopardy if they do not reach the performance level expected.
Crewe go into Saturday’s game at Plymouth on the back of a seven-game unbeaten run and Artell says that those out of the team have to continue to push for places.
Ahead of our trip to Home Park, Artell told the club’s official website: “If I thought making a change would benefit the team then I would do it. Every manager thinks that way and it doesn’t matter who it is or what position they play.
“All of them are judged on their performances and they understand that. We have a group of players trying to get into the team, so those ahead of them know they have to keep playing well because there is someone wanting to take their place.
“It is nothing so drastic as no-one’s place is safe or anything like that but the lads know that their performances are always analysed and could be in jeopardy if they do not perform to the level we expect. That’s football and how it works.”
