Artell Not Ruling Out A Possible Move For Another

25 January 2021

Boss moved quickly to bring in 3 new loan signings and he hasn't totally ruled out going for one more.

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell admits that the treble loan signing of Billy Jones, Stephen Walker and Antony Evans is not necessary the end of the club’s transfer activity in the January window.

The Alex boss told the media via a Zoom call earlier today that ‘whilst the shops are still open, you can shop’.

The January transfer window closes on 1st February and Artell is not ruling out moving for another potential target.

Artell told the club’s official website: “If the shops are open you can still go shopping and that is where we are at the moment. The window doesn’t close until the 1st of February, so we can still look and we are doing.

“We will look to get one more done but we will have to see.

“I’ve said all along that recruitment is an art form not a science because if it was then it would be the end of those scouts, with flat caps on going to the games and watching players. It would all be done on stats and clips and you need the mix to be right.

“If any manager says that they get them all right then they are lying. It is impossible to get them all right but if you can get more right than wrong then you head in the right direction.

“It is difficult and even more difficult to find a forward who scores goals because everyone is looking for them but it is another challenge that we will try to embrace and if we can get the right one in then we will.”
