Artell to lock horns again with the former MK Dons and Exeter boss, Paul Tisdale this evenin at Gresty Road.
David Artell says he is looking forward to locking horns again with Paul Tisdale this evening. The two managers have established a long-standing respect for each other’s work after Crewe were competing with Tisdale’s former club at Exeter in the division below.
Artell says that Tisdale is a ‘real football guy’ who deserves another crack at League One level with Bristol Rovers after not going as well as he would have liked when it charge of MK Dons.
Crewe host the Pirates this evening aiming to extend our impressive unbeaten run to 9 games in League One.
Ahead of our night fixture, Artell told crewealex.net: “I really like Paul. He is a good guy and a real football man. He thinks a lot about the game and you know that when you come up against one of his teams they will always play to his philosophy and style.
“You can watch them and study them like they do but they will still do what they do, because they are good at it. They won’t change and you know that Paul is the type of manager, who is out there on the training pitch, coaching his players.
“He did ever so well at Exeter and he deserved his chance in League One with MK Dons. It didn’t quite work out there for him but he deserves another crack at it with Bristol Rovers. He is a good manager, a thinking manager and he sticks to his principles.
“He had some really kind words for me and Kenny (Lunt) when he came into our office a few years ago now and we really appreciated what he said. I have a lot of time for him and we know that with Paul in charge it will be another tough game.
He added: “He is having the desired effect there because the results have certainly picked up since he had gone in there and we know it will be difficult.”
