Boss: "It Is A Terrific Achievement For Owen To Be Nominated For Award"

Four goals in four games sees Dale up for League One award.

David Artell has hailed Owen Dale’s nomination for the Sky Bet League One Player of the Month award as a ‘terrific achievement’. The Alex wide man has been nominated for the December award along with Jonson Clarke-Harris (Peterborough United), Brennan Johnson (Lincoln City) and goalkeeper Jack Stephens (Oxford United).

Dale’s productive month saw him score in four successive matches and provide an assist as Crewe moved up to 9th in the League One table.

The Alex boss told the club’s official website: “For Owen to be nominated for the player of the month award is a terrific achievement. To score in four consecutive games is no easy task, especially when you are not an all out number 9. To do that as a wide forward is some achievement.

“He has been on a great run and is beginning to really establish himself now. He got a taste of it last season and we dipped in him for a few games and then took him out and we introduced him steadily.

“He did fine last season but has gone on again this season. His recent run hasn’t all been about his goals or assists, but his all-round performances as well. He is a real team player and quite rightly he has been included on the short-list after the month he has had.

“Now the trick is for him to go and get nominated again and replicate his form and I’m sure if he does that then people will be talking about him a lot more.”
