Artell: "Finney Should Be Aiming For 20 Goals A Season"

18 January 2021

Artell says midfielder should be aiming for 'striker' ratios following his 7th goal of the season at Home Park.

David Artell believes that attacking midfielder, Oli Finney, is capable of scoring 20 goals a season. Finney notched his 7th goal of an impressive season in the 1-1 draw at Plymouth on Saturday and Artell says that although that is a healthy return for a midfield player, he is convinced that he should be well in excess of double figures.

Artell said of the Staffordshire-born midfielder: “Seven goals is a good return but there is much more to come from him. He really could score 20 goals a season and people will say, that is what a striker should be getting and I would say they are right but Oli could get to those numbers to.

“That boy is a good player and he has a knack for scoring goals. He has to become more ruthless and convert more chances. He is doing that recently. He really is.

He added: “He should some more goal because he is a terrific player and is a great finisher. His goal at Plymouth is another example of that.”
