"Even More To Come From Mika"

26 February 2021

David Artell believes there is plenty more to come from forward Mikael Mandron after the 26-year-old Frenchman agreed a contract extension on Tuesday.

Artell was pleased to sign the likeable forward until the summer of 2022 and he says that as a ‘coachable player’ he will continue to improve as a footballer.

Mandron has scored 9 goals so far this season in all competitions since joining us from Gillingham in the summer.

Artell told the club’s official website: “First and foremost, Mika is a good bloke. We don’t want idiots at this football club and he isn’t one. He is a coachable player and one of the reasons he has agreed to extend his contract with us, is that he wants to keep on improving as a footballer.

“There is more to come from him. There is more to get out of him because I would have thought he was used more as a target man at previous clubs. He is a footballer and there are lots of other things he does. He is good with his feet; he can hold the ball up and runs like a race horse. He can also take a goal.

“He has come on leaps and bounds but he can improve. He works hard at his game every day and I am sure he feels he has improved since the summer.

The boss added: “He will look at it and think that he can improve with us and become even better with the coaching we can offer him because he is very receptive to that. The aim will be to score more goals for us.”
