Oli Finney has received welcome news in his quest to be fit before the end of the season. It is hoped that the Staffordshire-based youngster could return in 6-8 weeks after a scan last week revealed that the bone is healing at it should.
Finney suffered a fracture of the leg away at Shrewsbury Town and the club were fearful that the 23-year-old would miss the remainder of the campaign.
Finney, who has scored 8 goals this season, visited a specialist on Thursday and received positive news.
David Artell told the club’s official website: “It was positive news for Oli and for us. The break is healing at it should be, so hopefully it appears that there is no need for an operation.
He added: “He will re-visit the specialist again in two weeks for another X-Ray and that will see how he is progressing and determine more of a return date, but I would expect it to be around six weeks. It may be a bit longer or less but hopefully in two weeks, he will be out of his boot and we can take it from there.”
