Boss Looks Forward To Another 'Tasty Game' Against Ferguson's Posh'

5 February 2021

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell says he is expecting another ‘tasty game’ against Darren Ferguson’s Peterborough United side this weekend. The Alex recorded a well-deserved 2-0 win over Posh back in November at Gresty Road thanks to goals from Charlie Kirk and Harry Pickering.

Crewe go into the game at London Road (Weston Homes Stadium) on a back of a fine 1-0 win over Shrewsbury on Tuesday night and a run of just one defeat in 13 games. Ferguson’s side have lost just once at home all season and are one of the main contenders for a top six finish.

Ahead of our trip to Peterborough, David Artell told crewealex.net: “It is going to be another tasty game and these are the games we want to be involved in. We want these nip and tuck games where we have to play to our levels to get a result.

“Peterborough are a good team and I don’t think they did themselves justice in the first half at ours but they made us work hard in the second half. We will have to make sure we reach those levels again.

“We know that if we can then we can give anyone a game at this level. That has to be the bare minimum. Now if it means we do win the game will depend on the day but we have to compete and match them to stand any chance.

“I have great respect for Darren (Ferguson) and the people at Peterborough. They are good people and are proper football people.

“Like I’ve said many times, we respect everyone we come up against but we don’t fear them.

The boss added: “The players know that we will have to embrace the challenge and give a good account of ourselves and if we can do that, then we are more than capable of coming away from a tough place with a result.”
