Artell: "We Have To Become Better At What We Do"

9 February 2021

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell says that he and his staff will work on the team to make sure we do not become too predictable. With no mid-week fixture to plan for, the Alex boss is aiming to use his free time wisely to freshen things up in the Crewe attack.

Crewe didn’t find the back of the net against Peterborough and have scored four goals in the last five games after putting three past Bristol Rovers.

Artell agrees that we have to be more threatening but isn’t just basing that on the front three.

The Alex boss told crewealex.net: “We have to be careful not to always try to do the same thing. We don’t want to become highly predictable and become easier to play against or defend against.

“We want to ask questions of the opposition and I include the high midfielders and the full-backs in that because we cannot always rely on the front three for creativity.

“We have to become better at what we do. Saturday’s performance at Peterborough highlighted that although it must be said, it was a tricky pitch to play on.

“When I am thinking things over, and lying in bed at 3am in the morning trying to think about how we can score more goals because those things do go through my head. We are always looking to improve and get better and we will work on things this week with them and hopefully that will be transformed to the games.”
