David Artell couldn’t disguise his disappointment after his Crewe Alexandra side didn’t go on to claim all three points against Ipswich Town on Saturday after Charlie Kirk fired us in a lead just before the hour mark.
Paul Lambert’s side struck back through substitute Aaron Drinan with 15 minutes remaining and held out for a draw despite having Teddy Bishop sent off in the final 10 minutes following two bookable offences.
Artell told the club’s official website: “It was disappointing not to have won the game after getting our noses in front. If you want to achieve anything then you have got to win that game 1-0 and we want to achieve things here.
“I suppose that is where our standards are. We set our standards high but I don’t think they are not obtainable.
“In that game when you have got your noses in front, you don’t concede but we have ended up conceding one from a tackle.
He added: “We performed better down there and ended up losing 1-0. We weren’t as good against Ipswich on Saturday, with the same team if you like and ended up with a point, so that puts things into context a bit.”
