Midfielder on the receiving end of a 'naughty one' in 1-0 win at Shrewsbury

Crewe Alexandra will assess the seriousness of Oli Finney’s injury after he was forced off in last night’s 1-0 over Shrewsbury.

The midfielder was caught by a late challenge from Harry Chapman with just over 15 minutes remaining at the New Meadow and will be doubtful for the weekend game at Peterborough.

David Artell described the tackle ‘as a naughty one’ in his post-match interview and Crewe are hoping that the knock on his ankle and shin is not too serious.  

After extensive treatment on the pitch, Finney was able to leave the pitch unaided and was replaced by Tom Lowery.

Crewe protected the 1-0 lead given to us to Owen Dale to win our first game in five games and move on to 40 points.
