David Artell appreciates that if Crewe Alexandra are to escape the drop this season then we have to start to win away games. Crewe have not won on the road in League One this season and Artell knows that has to change and quickly as we enter the second half of the campaign.

Crewe travel to Morecambe this evening and Artell and his players are targeting that away win that could see us close the gap at the bottom of the table.

The Alex boss told us: “We have to keep on performing like we have been doing but make sure that sees us pick up points as well. The performances have improved, they are getting better and we have to make sure that continues.

“If we want to stay in this league then we have to start winning some away games, there is no getting away from that. Hopefully that can start at Morecambe and we can carry that on to Burton and then see where we are with home games coming up after that.

“It has to start and it is not inconceivable that we can’t put a run of four, five games together and that would see us shoot up the table. That is the challenge and the first part of that is a difficult trip to Morecambe.”
