"We Have Made Small Steps And We Want That To Continue"

10 December 2021

Gaffer gears up for Owls test at the Mornflake Stadium this weekend.

David Artell believes that his Crewe Alexandra side ‘have made very small steps’ in recent weeks and he wants that improvement to continue against Sheffield Wednesday this weekend. The Alex go into the game against the Owls on a run of three wins in our last fives games in all competitions.

Crewe also produced a really positive performance at Ipswich and were unfortunate not to come away from Portman Road with at least a point for our efforts.

Artell told the club’s official website: “We have made a start and we  have to keep building on that. We have won three out of our last five games and if we continued in that form, then we would be in mid-table in no time.

“We know that is a difficult ask and not easy to do but we have made very small steps recently and we have to carry on that track.

“It is good to see the fruits of that labour and we have to keep working hard. I’m sure there are rocky roads ahead because that is football, but we are looking more of a threat going forward and have kept three clean-sheets on the bounce at home.

“Now we have Sheffield Wednesday, who will be one of the favourites to win promotion this season and we have to embrace that challenge and give it a right go in front of our own fans. I want our supporters to come along, bring their families and friends along and make some real noise.”
