'Options Are Improving All The Time'

9 December 2021

David Artell has told the club’s official website that the competition for places has improved with the injured and suspended are back.

Scott Robertson and Luke Murphy returned from suspension but had to settle for a place on the substitutes bench for Tuesday’s 2-0 win over Lincoln City after those that took their place impressed enough to keep their place.

With Callum Ainley and Travis Johnson back from injury and involved against Lincoln City and Kayne Ramsay getting minutes for the club’s under-23s against Sheffield United, the options are improving all the time.

Artell told the club’s official website: “We have good players and you only have to look at who didn’t play on Tuesday to see that the competition is good. Robbo and Murph were on the bench after their suspensions. Madger Gomes was on the bench.

“We didn’t have Kashket and Long and then we lost Chris Porter in the warm-up and had to change again.

“Callum and Travis got more minutes on Tuesday night and Kayne was good in the 23s at Sheffield, so we are improving the squad all the time.  We have plenty and that is before you get down to the Josh Lundstram’s of this world. “
