Artell:"It Is Always A Worrying Time When It Comes To Testing But All We Can Do Is Remain As Safe As Possible"

22 December 2021

David Artell says that the staff and players are Crewe Alexandra are all ‘just determined to play football’ and we will follow all guidance and instruction to make that happen.

The Crewe Alexandra boss is optimistic that our Boxing Day fixture against Wigan Athletic will continue and that he is currently preparing for the fixture with no-one ruled out with Covid or through self-isolation.

Artell told the club’s official website: “I think we all just want to play football and we will do everything we possibly can to make that happen. We are operating to the red protocols again, certainly not the green ones anymore and everyone here has slipped back into that and understands it.

“We are carrying on as we should do, but remain always mindful of the fact that the health of the players and the staff is absolute paramount.

“There are a lot of things now in place to try and stop the infection causing an outbreak here, such as players changing in separate dressing rooms, social distancing, one way systems, wearing masks around the place and limiting mixing time and all that and the players just adapt to what is asked of them.

“They are being tested every day and are not allowed into the building without that negative test. It is always a worrying time when it comes to the testing because you don’t want an outbreak or anyone to test positive but that is the life we live in at the moment and you just have to get on with it and make sure you do everything you can to remain as safe as possible.”
