Crewe Alexandra recorded their third 2-0 win at home on the bounce as two penalties from Mikael Mandron sealed a deserved victory over Lincoln City. The win sees Crewe move off the bottom of the table with Sheffield Wednesday rolling into South Cheshire on Saturday.
Following the latest 2-0 home win, Artell told us: "Our performances over the last four or five games warranted a result like that and if we play like that then we will get a result like we did tonight against a good Lincoln side. Most of their players have played their careers in the Championship, so they are no mugs.
“It’s a start. We have won two of the last four. We keep going like that will be okay. I think we have turned a bit of corner. The lads are trying and working their socks off for this football club and that was evident again tonight.
“A well taken penalty is one that goes in and Mikael has done it twice. If it goes in, it is a good penalty, period. The second penalty is a no brainer, it’s a definite pen and a second yellow for the lad, so that was the right decision.
“The first one I would have been disappointed if it had been given against us that’s for sure but if you get the ball in the box then sometimes you might get a bit of luck.
“It’s three 2-0 home wins for us, so the improvement is there and now we have to take that into Saturday’s game against one of the big guns in Sheffield Wednesday.”
