Centre-half cannot wait to get going after signing for Crewe

Crewe Alexandra is pleased to announce the signing of Terell Thomas on a 12-month contract. The 25 year-old joins us from AFC Wimbledon following the end of his contact at the London club.

The Rainham born Thomas enjoyed a youth career with both Arsenal and Charlton Athletic before turning professional with the Addicks. As a young player he was loaned out to Woking on two occasions before returning to the Valley.

He was unable to make the decisive break through at Charlton and moved to Wigan Athletic in 2017 in search of first-team football.

Thomas went on to make his EFL debut for the Latics after replacing a certain Nick Powell at half-time in a 1-0 win over MK Dons in August 2017.

With his first team chances becoming limited at Wigan, he enjoyed a successful loan spell at Sutton United in 2018 and his form in the National League saw his stay at the DW Stadium extended for another year – but that summer he chose to move to AFC Wimbledon for an undisclosed fee.

He has made 90 appearances for the Dons over the last three seasons scoring twice and helped the club cement their place in League One.

On completing his switch to the Mornflake Stadium today, the centre-half told the club’s official website: “I am really looking forward to it. I think I will really enjoy it. I’ve met most of the lads and it’s a really great group. I can wait to get going and start playing the games again. I cannot wait to get cracking on.

“It was very different to see the season kick off and I wasn’t involved but I was relaxed because I knew everything that was going on with Crewe. I wasn’t shaking in my boots but it was a weird feeling looking at all the scores.

“Now I’ve signed and I am raring to go. I am just happy that it has been completed and I can knuckle down and take on the challenge that I have chosen and help the club and this team to win football matches.

He added: “Talking to the gaffer and the way he described the club and the style of play, what he does and his man-management was really attractive for me and was one of the main reason, if not the main reason why I’ve signed. “

Everyone at the club welcomes Terell and we wish him every success with us.
