David Artell remains ‘hopeful’ that new faces will arrive at the club before the end of the transfer window.
The Alex boss has revealed that he has ‘one or two irons in the fire’ but doesn’t expect anything to be completed before the seasonal opener against Cheltenham Town tomorrow.
Artell told the club’s official website: “It has been an eventful week. That is the best way to describe it and it will all come out in the wash.
“We are working hard on one or two things and we are hopeful that we can get things done. If that is in time for tomorrow I don’t expect that to happen with the deadline.
“All we can do is work hard on the recruit side of things like we are doing.”
