Jaaskelainen Has Given Him The Best Chance To Be Fit For The Weekend

13 August 2021

Crewe Alexandra will monitor the thigh injury sustained by Will Jaaskelainen in Tuesday’s EFL Cup win over Hartlepool. Boss David Artell announced after the game that the Finnish Youth International needed treatment at half-time following a hefty collision with his own defender, Kayne Ramsay, and then again in the second half.

Jaaskelainen has worked hard throughout the week to give him the best chance of travelling south for the game, as he continues to battle it out with Dave Richards for the number one shirt.

Artell told the club’s official website: “We have monitored Will’s situation this week. He came in on Wednesday for extra treatment and he has worked hard on his rehab.

“Everyone thought he was time wasting at Hartlepool but he wasn’t. He needed some treatment at half-time and then again in the second half. It was a sore one but we are hopeful that he will declare himself fit and available for the weekend.

“We will just have to see how he is before we make a decision on whether he will travel with us or not.”
