'Break Will Come At Right Time For Us'

30 August 2021

Lunt says important to get some work into players out on the training ground after busy start to the season.

Kenny Lunt admitted that Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Charlton Athletic was another frustrating afternoon after the Alex suffered their fourth successive defeat in League One.

The Alex have one point from the opening game of the season against Cheltenham Town and Lunt says that although we are improving steadily in the games, we need to become more consistent in both boxes.

Lunt told the club’s official website: “It was another frustrating game on Saturday because Charlton put us under a lot of pressure in the opening 15 minutes and we didn’t get into their half too often but I thought we defended really well and came through that period.

“Then for the next 15, 20 minutes, we controlled the game a lot better only for a couple of mistakes to really cost us within a five minute spell.

“We haven’t scored a goal in the league since the Cheltenham game and we should have gone on to win the game and perhaps would of but for an individual mistake that day. We have been chasing games and we know we have to be better.

“After the game (at Shrewsbury) tomorrow night, we have 10 days to get some work into them out on the training pitch. It has come at a good time and we can put some work into building those relationships because the first month has been two games a week and just about recovery and preparing for the next game.”
