Crewe Alexandra manager David Artell hopes that there will be a good following from the Alex at Fratton Park this weekend.
The Alex take on one of the promotion favourites in Portsmouth and it will be our first league away game with supporters allowed since a trip to Exeter City back in March 2020.
David Artell told the club’s official website: “Portsmouth away is always a tough game and it is always a great atmosphere. There will be thousands there and we will be the underdogs but our fans will be heard and we have won there in the past.
“It is great to have the fans back with us. I thought they were magnificent at Hartlepool on Tuesday. It was a wet, balmy August night but they came in their numbers and got behind the team. They saw a performance worthy of the shirt the players were wearing.
“Our fans have not had any away trips since the pandemic, so I am sure they are looking to a few away days now. Hopefully, there will be a few on Saturday, like there were at Hartlepool and we can get a similar result for them.”
