Artell says it just didn't quite flow for us against tight Cheltenham side.
David Artell believes that our 1-1 draw with Cheltenham Town at the Mornflake Stadium was a ‘fair result’. Mika Mandron had given the Alex the lead on 28 minutes but Andy Williams levelled things up 12 minutes later after Donervon Daniels over hit his back pass across the box.
Artell told the club’s official website: “I thought it was just about a fair result. I thought it was fair. Although I thought one team wanted to settle for 1-1 and another, us, trying to find a goal to win 2-1 for large parts of the game.
“We were trying to find ways but we lacked that fluency today. We were not fluent enough but the positive is that we are a point better off than last season when we lost to Charlton. It was a bit doom and gloom in the dressing room but we have a point on the board and haven’t lost.
“There are positives to take from it, but we also have a lot to work on as well, which from a manager’s point of view can be a good thing. There could have been some factors in that. We had a few new faces and I just don’t mean the new signings, but Josh who hasn’t started many league games and Rio at left-back. He played the majority of the games at right-back.
“We are confident that we will get there and there is a lot made of the first game. We won 6-0 against Morecambe here once and didn’t win promotion so its swings and roundabouts.”
The manager admitted that it has been a tough week of preparations and that more will be revealed next week.
Artell revealed : “It has been a tough week. As soon as we know anything then we will let the fans and the media know. The truth is nothing has happened and we will have to wait and see. If there are things to be announced then we will once everything is sorted.”
