Alex Hopeful That Wood Will Be Available For Rochdale Visit

22 April 2021

Crewe Alexandra are hoping that Nathan Wood’s leg injury is not too serious and that the on-loan defender from Middlesbrough will get the all-clear to be available for this weekend’s home game against Rochdale.

The teenage centre-half was eventually forced off in the 48th minute against Fleetwood Town on Tuesday after courageously remaining on the field despite having two periods of treatment from head physio Steve Phillips.

Wood,18, played through the pain barrier as much as possible but was unable to continue after re-appearing for the second half and giving it a go.

Crewe went on to win the game 2-0 at Highbury and Wood, it seems, suffered a severe dead leg when being caught when clearing the box.

The Alex look set to be without youngster Luke Offord, who was forced off after 20 minutes with a hamstring injury. He was replaced by Donervon Daniels.

Crewe will be able to welcome back defender Omar Beckles from suspension though. Beckles missed the mid-week win at Fleetwood after being dismissed for a professional foul at Wigan in the previous game.
