Wintle: "We Want To End Season On A High"

30 April 2021

Midfielder targets two wins from final two games to see how high we can finish

Ryan Wintle is hoping to end the season on a real positive both individually and collectively. The midfielder recently made a successful return to the starting XI after missing the games against Wigan and Fleetwood due to a tight groin.

He successfully returned as an early substitute for the injured Luke Murphy against Rochdale and then started on Tuesday night at Charlton. Wintle produced one of his finest performances of the season at the Valley and now the former Alsager man is hoping to finish on a high in the final two games.

Wintle told crewealex.net: “With the amount of games we have, you are going to get those little niggles and that is what happened with me. I just had to have that breather out, get fully fit and go again. It wasn’t anything too serious but it restricted my training for a couple of weeks.

“Now I am free of it and want to end the season on a positive note. We have two games to go and we want to win them both and see how high we can finish.

“The aim has to be to play at stadiums like the Valley every week as a professional and if we can perform like we did the other night then we won’t be too far off. I wouldn’t have believed that I would be playing at a stadium like that when I was 17 and playing for Alsager.”
