Gaffer on why no risks will be taking with head injuries after Rio Adebisi suffers a nasty one against Pompey.

Rio Adebisi has been given the all-clear after suffering a nasty head injury against Portsmouth last night.

The full-back took a boot to the face and was clearly shaken before he was withdrawn for Donervon Daniels just after the half an hour mark. There was no malicious in the challenge and both Ronan Curtis and manager Danny Cowley checked on the welfare of the player.

David Artell told the club’s official website: “Rio is fine and was at the time but we didn’t hesitate to take him off. He came over and said he didn’t know what had happened, so that was it, we pulled him off.

“We are clear on that. The welfare of the players comes first and when a player doesn’t feel right or their vision is blurry or they can’t remember something then they are coming off. That is the way it will be and always will be.

“He wasn’t knocked out but I know what it is like to be knocked out as player and there is no point taking any risk with head injuries at all.”
