Lancashire Stepped In To Fill Beckles Spot With Assured Performance

21 April 2021

Following Omar Beckles’ one-match suspension, Olly Lancashire, was rewarded with a recall to the Crewe Alexandra starting line-up for our trip to Fleetwood Town. Crewe won the game 2-0 at Highbury with Will Jaaskelainen protecting a deserved clean-sheet when saving his third penalty in four consecutive games that we have conceded one.

Lancashire, 32, was making his 23rd appearance of the season, and has helped us to five clean-sheets in all competitions.

Alex boss said: “Olly’s clean-sheet record is decent. It might be that he has the most number of clean-sheets when he has started games. Is that a coincidence? I don’t know but it is a good stat to have.

“He was good again. He was steady at the back and didn’t do anything rash. Is there things he could have done better? Yes, but that goes for them all.

“It’s another clean-sheet and Vassell, Camps and McKay, who are good players, haven’t scored so that is a job well done. “
