Alex midfielder Oli Finney is ‘unlikely’ to feature again this season after feeling some discomfort in his leg when running.
Finney has made tremendous strides in his development and was recently able to participate in some resistance running on the treadmill at the Manchester Institute of Health and Performance.
The Staffordshire-born midfielder though suffered some slight discomfort afterwards and his consultant has advised a period of rest from running again. With just eight games left, Finney is running out of matches.
Finney, 23, had scored 8 goals in 31 appearances this season from midfield before he suffered a broken leg in a 1-0 win at Shrewsbury back in early February.
The midfielder signed a new three-year deal in September 2020 and it was hoped that he would return to action before the end of the current campaign but that now seems unlikely.
