What An Experience It Was For Someone Like Rio

29 April 2021

Rio Adebisi made just his 20th appearance of his career at Charlton’s Valley on Tuesday evening and the full-back performed admirably in the 2-2 draw up against the on-loan Liverpool winger Liam Millar.

With Charlton aiming to score the goal to give them a needed three points in their quest to finish in the play-off places, Nigel Adkins then introduced the more physical Chuks Aneke with 20 minutes for Millar.

David Artell was full of praise for his 20-year-old right-back.

He said: “The Valley is a terrific stadium. It has all that history and it is such a shame that there were no supporters in to watch a good game of football.

“It is a really good football club and well run now and it is a great place to play your football. What an experience it was for our young players.

“We have Rio, who is 20 years old and only played a handful of games playing at the Valley and marking really good players. Millar is a great young player too and gave him some tough moments but he coped really well and did his job.

“If he did make an mistake, and he is going to make them because he is still finding his feet at this level, but he recovered quickly and isn’t fazed. It has been a great experience for him and a few of the others as well.”
