Encouraging News On Finney And Lundstram

23 April 2021

The gaffer has revealed that there is light at the end of the tunnel for Staffordshire midfielders Oli Finney and Josh Lundstram who have both completed successful running sessions this week as they target game time before the end of the season.

Finney, 23, has been out since February after suffering a broken leg in the latter stages of our Sky Bet League One game with Shrewsbury Town.

Fellow central midfielder, Lundstram has missed the majority of the 20/21 season following a reoccurring ankle problem that has kept him out of action since our Papa John's Trophy game with Newcastle United Under-21s in September.

The boss added: "Oli’s ran twice this week outside without any discomfort around his fracture and will be out there again today.

“He’s progressing nicely and he’s just feeling the discomforts in his muscles that he hasn’t used for two months. So, he had a rest day yesterday to recover and we will be looking to increase the intensity of his sessions over the weekend to get him back on track."

He continued with: "Josh is in a very similar boat to Oli, we’ve got to get him up to speed because we want to give him game time before the season finishes, but at the same time we don’t want to rush him back and be without him again."
