Boss Looking For More Of The Same In Final Two Games

29 April 2021

David Artell was delighted with his side’s professionalism against Charlton Athletic on Tuesday evening and he says that it will continue in the remaining two games of the season.

Crewe were excellent at the Valley and perhaps deserved more than the point we did collect thanks to Owen Dale’s brace.

The Alex travel to Bristol Rovers this weekend and although Joey Barton’s side have unfortunately been relegated, Artell says that we will prepare for the game in exactly the same fashion.

The Crewe boss told us: “We spoke about motivation before we went to Charlton and I said that the word professional comes before footballer and to a man they were excellent.

“We have a duty to the other clubs in the division to be professional and do everything we can to win the game. We did that and deserved to win it.

“That is the beauty of football, that is can be so unpredictable. When no-one expects you go and get a result and you go out and play as well as we did and got one.

“We didn’t cave in when we went behind early and then when we conceded the second one late on. They kept going and we got what we deserved with that equaliser.

“It’s never easy and it was a tough game but the players didn’t roll over and it has to be the same in the last two games, although there are no real issues to be decided.”
