Gaffer Wants To End With Another Away Win

30 April 2021

Alex head to Bristol for final away game of the season

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell wants his side to continue their fine run away from home at Bristol Rovers this weekend. Artell would love to end the season with six points with the Pirates and Shrewsbury Town still to come.

The Alex travel to the Memorial Stadium on the back of three wins and a draw from our last five away games. That defeat came against relegation threatened Wigan Athletic on what was an off day for the Railwaymen but in our mini-run on our travels we have impressively won at MK Dons, Northampton and Fleetwood, as well picking up that deserved point at Charlton on Tuesday night.

In contrast, our home form has warranted just one win from our last five games and Artell says is it important to get back on tracks at the Alexandra Stadium in readiness for next season as well.

The boss told crewealex.net: “I don’t have the answer to why we have done better away than at home recently. It can happen in football but I must say that our home form has been excellent over the last two and a bit seasons.

“We have been really strong at home and it is important we get back to that next season. Your home form is crucial, regardless of what division you are in.

“It is not easy in this league, regardless if you are at home or away. It is hard when you have the likes of Portsmouth and Charlton in a run of games.

“Our home form is something to keep an eye on and we want to win the two remaining games and take that into next season. It is an important area to build a strong platform of results. “
