Artell: "Rare For Us To Suffer Back-To-Back Home Defeats"

9 April 2021

Crewe Alexandra manager David Artell has told the club’s official that ‘it is a rarity’ for us to lose two home games on the bounce and with two home games coming up against Oxford and then Portsmouth, he is targeting six points.

The Alex were unfortunate to lose 2-1 to Hull City on Good Friday after conceding a stoppage time winner but were deservedly beaten 3-0 by Burton Albion in the game before.

The Alex produced their worst half of football of the season to find themselves three goals down against the Brewers but we have bounced back superbly on the road with wins at Northampton and MK Dons.

Artell told the club’s official website: “It is a rare occurrence for us to suffer back-to-back home defeats and that has been a real positive.

“Now we have back-to-back home games and we have to win them. That’s the plan.

“We have eight games left and we want to finish as high as we can. We have to concentrate on ourselves and if we win all eight then we have a chance of the play-offs. If we lose all eight then we will be just about safe, so there is still plenty to play for.

“The first thing we need to do is win our home games and get back to winning at home, starting with Oxford tomorrow.”
