Artell: "The Situation With No Fans May Help Away Teams"

8 September 2020

David Artell believes that not having any supporters in stadium when we are away from home may assist us.

This evening, Crewe travel to the University of Bolton Stadium for our first competitive away fixture of the new season and the Railwaymen will be looking to get a positive result in our first group encounter in the Checkatrade Trophy.

Ahead of tonight’s 7pm kick-off, Artell told the club’s official website: “I suppose it will make a difference to play at Bolton without any fans there. I would much prefer a full house and I’m sure the players would as well but it is what it is.

“I am sure with the situation as it, it may help away teams. It certainly showed that to be the case in the Bundelisga when there was a high level of away wins.

“We have to show that we are good enough to win the game against a good team. It is simple as that.

“We have already played Bolton recently but I am sure that will have little bearing on tonight. It will be a competitive game and both teams will be looking to win and get that first win in the group.”
