Pixie on life in League One and why he is relishing the chance to perform against bigger clubs.
Harry Pickering says he is relishing the challenge of playing against bigger clubs in League One and although the result went against us against Charlton Athletic in the opening game, he enjoyed the experience of playing up a level.
This weekend, Crewe travel to Hull City hoping to register that first league victory of the new season and although Pickering is expecting another tough test against another side recently relegated from the Championship, it is another game at a fantastic stadium that he is looking forward to.
Pickering told the club’s official website: “Although the results haven’t quite gone for us in two of the three games, I have still enjoyed it. The performances have been there and we just need to be more clinical in both boxes and take our chances. I am sure that will come with the players we have here.
“It is a step up in class but it is a challenge we are all looking forward to. We want to be competing against these bigger clubs and show that we are good players and a good team.
“Every game in League One is going to be tough, we know that but this is where we wanted to be and worked so hard to win promotion for.
“You have to think a bit quicker at his level because the players are better. You could see that against Charlton on Saturday, they had two chances in the first half really and scored two goals. That is the difference.
“You perhaps would have got away with stuff in League Two but you can’t at this level. The tempo is greater and it is a step up but we will be ready for it.
On Hull this weekend, Pixie said: “It will be another tough game this weekend but it is one we are all looking forward to again. We will prepare right and as a defender the first objective will be to try and get a clean-sheet and anything on top of that will be a bonus.”
