Summer signing Mikael Mandron says he had no hesitation in accepting the responsibility from the penalty spot to give Crewe Alexandra their first victory of the new season at Bolton Wanderers.
Mandron kept his cool with two minutes left on the clock on Tuesday evening to give Crewe a deserved 3-2 win in the Checkatrade Trophy Group stages and the Frenchman has revealed that he has taken penalties at his former clubs whenever the chance has arisen.
Mikael told the club’s official website: “When the penalty was given I wanted it. I did a bit of a sprint to get to the ball first! I sped up a bit and I was delighted to score it.
“I have taken penalties at every club I have been at and it was nice to see that one go in because we deserved to win the game.
“You can see in the dressing room that the spirit is really good. There is a real momentum there that comes from last season and winning promotion and we want to keep that going for as long as possible by winning games.”
