Lunt: "Karl Has Done A Terrific Job & Oxford Were Unfortunate Not To Go Up"

30 September 2020

Assistant manager impressed with U's style of play under experienced boss Robinson.

Kenny Lunt was an impressed observer of Oxford United’s recent penalty-shoot victory over Watford in the Carabao Cup. The game ended 1-1 after 90 minutes before Karl Robinson’s U’s won 3-0 from the spot. Lunt said it was deserved on the balance of play.

Lunt was suitably impressed by their performance on the night against their Championship opponents and the club’s assistant manager is expecting another tough test at the Kassam Stadium this weekend.

Kenny told crewealex.net: “Oxford are a good side. I went to see them against Watford in the League Cup and they played really well on the night. They play at a high tempo and took the game to Watford and they should have scored more because they had some good chances.

“They play good football under Karl and we love a good game of football as well, so although it will be another tough game for us, it is one to look forward to.

“Karl has done a terrific job there and they were unfortunate not to go up. They lost the play-off final, so they could be a Championship club now. We have faced two teams that have come down from the Championship and now have the play-off finalists on Saturday, so it has been a testing start but one we wanted when we were trying to get out of League Two.

Kenny added: “It will another good game of football, I’m sure and we have to be better in both boxes.”
