Crewe Alexandra wrapped up their pre-season preparations with a 1-1 draw at Kidsgrove Athletic this evening.
A second-half penalty from Mikael Mandron had given the Alex the lead but the home side levelled late-on as Dave Artell’s settled for a point.
In what was the first time a crowd had seen Crewe play since March the Alex gave starts to new signings Offrande Zanzala, Donovan Daniels and Mandron.
They had the better of the chances in the first-half but had to wait to just after the hour mark to take the lead as former Gillingham striker Mandron smashed home a penalty after Josh Lundstrum was tripped in the Kidsgrove box.
But with 11 minutes left Kidsgrove grabbed an equaliser as Gunnell fired home in the Alex from a dangerous free-kick.
That was the last real action of the game as Crewe finished their pre-season campaign. They will now turn their focus to Saturday’s visit of Lincoln in the Carabao Cup.
Crewe: Booth, Johnson, Daniels (Sass-Davies 79), Bruce, Nolan, Woodthorpe, Griffiths, Lundstrum, Dale, Zanzala, Mandron.
