Boss: "MK Dons Play The Game In The Right Manner"

25 September 2020

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell is expecting a tactical and technical battle when MK Dons arrive in South Cheshire this weekend.

Artell believes it will another footballing spectacle in League One and has warned his side that Russell Martin’s Dons are a dangerous outfit.

Crewe are aiming to register their first points at this level following last season’s promotion whilst MK Dons have drawn and lost their opening two games to Doncaster and Lincoln City.

Ahead of this weekend’s fixture behind closed doors, Artell told crewealex.net: “They have been real spectacles in League One. It is nice not to play teams who are only interested in shelling it like some did in League Two. That is not proper football to me and the games we have been involved in have been footballing games.

“Other than the results, I have really enjoyed it and it is better to pit yourself against those trying to outfox you with tactics and good players.

“I am sure that this weekend will be the same. It should be another tactical and technical battle. They base their game on possession, like we do, and they are dangerous.

He added: “Russell has sprinkled his own philosophy on a club that has had a footballing philosophy for many years now. They are a good team; they play a different shape and formation and play the game in the right manner. It should be a good game of football and one we are looking forward to.”
