Finney: "Only A Matter Of Time Before It Turns In Our Favour"

23 September 2020

Midfielder Oli Finney believes that Crewe Alexandra’s overall performance away at Hull City deserved a lot more than zero points and zero goals and the youngster revealed that the dressing room was despondent following our 1-0 defeat at the KCOM Stadium.

Finney was guilty of missing a good chance himself when he slightly delayed to get his shot off and he didn’t spot Ryan Wintle in space to the side of him. Crewe had three really good opportunities to have gone in at the interval ahead.

Oli told the club’s official website: “Everyone was disappointed and gutted afterwards. We were disappointed not to have won, never mind to have lost it in the last 10 minutes.

“We couldn’t believe we didn’t get anything from the game. We had enough chances first half to have put the game to bed. We had three really good chances and I had one myself.

“That is the difference at this level. If you don’t take your chances when you are on top then you get punished. It happened in the first game against Charlton when we were attacking. A couple of passes and they scored.

“We can take the positives away from facing two teams that were in the Championship last season but we are all disappointed not to have some points on the board or to have scored.

The Staffordshire born midfielder added: “We know we have to be more clinical in both boxes and once we start to score goals we will be okay. We feel as though we are a good team and it is only a matter time before we pick up again.”
