David Artell says his squad have discussed and reflected on Saturday’s opening league defeat to Charlton Athletic. Artell says that having gone through the footage of the 2-0 defeat by the Addicks, the squad have learnt a lot going forward into more League One action this weekend at Hull.
Artell says that there would not be wholesale changes made after one game and that he took heart from the overall performance.
The Crewe boss told crewealex.net: “We have gone through the game again together and it wasn’t much different from what I said after the game. By and large we were okay and were not that far off against a Charlton side, who will be expected to be right up there.
“We were okay between both boxes. We conceded two poor goals from our point of view and didn’t quite do enough to score a goal and get ourselves back in the game. We know we have to be better but there was plenty to take from the way we approached the game and how we played.
“The players were good when we watched it back. They put their opinions across well and it is always good to have their thoughts on what we did well and not so well.
“That is how we get better together. We win together and lose together and it was good to reflect on it and more on.
He added: “I wouldn’t be making wholesale changes even if I could because that is not how we react after one game. They were fine for large parts of it and we know we have to be more clinical in both boxes.”
