Artell: "There Is No Need To Panic"

25 September 2020

No added pressure on forwards to score goals after blank in opening league games.

David Artell has told the club’s official website that there is no added pressure on the forward players to score goals after a blank in both our league games so far. Crewe have narrowly lose their two league games to former Championship sides, Charlton Athletic and Hull City but Artell stresses there is no need to panic.

The Alex have created enough chances to have taken something from both games and Artell believes that we are improving each week in League One.

The boss told crewealex.net: “There are some games when the performance is there and you lose. Last weekend at Hull was one of those. There wasn’t a lot wrong and we didn’t deserve to lose the game. We deserved something from the way we played but we have to make sure we take those chances and make them chase the game.

“If we play like we did last week and take those chances then we will be fine. We will win more than we lose. We are improving with every game. The performances are getting better each week. We have to keep on improving and we are getting there.

“We haven’t scored in two league games but we should have done. It is an area we need to improve on and we have worked on it but it isn’t the only thing we can improve on. We are just not isolating on that and there is no pressure on the forward players or anyone else.

“We are two games in and I’m sure the goals will come.”
