Will: "We Have Proved We Can Go To These Places And Get The Points Now"

Will Jaaskelainen’s stunning late save to deny Tom Anderson a headed equaliser played a major part in making sure Crewe Alexandra acquired the three points from Doncaster Rovers on Saturday.

Crewe won the game 2-1 thanks to goals from Charlie Kirk and Harry Pickering, but needed a fantastic reflex save from the Alex number one to preserve the three points.

The Finland Under-21 International told crewealex.net: “It is always great coming in on a Monday morning when we have won the game and the three points are in the bag. There is always a buzz and it makes for a perfect Monday.

“I feel happy if we win at home or away but there is always an extra bonus when you go away from home and get a big win.

“We played well and I thought we thoroughly deserved to win the game. It has shown us that we can go away to these teams and get the three points.

“It is always nice to be included in the team of the week and all that stuff but the main thing for me is that we got the three points. I was a bit disappointed that we couldn’t get that clean-sheet but we go again against Lincoln on Tuesday and try to get one against them.”

On his heroic save late on at the Keepmoat, the Finn said: “We got set for the corner and I have moved a far bit across and then I have glanced over and seen that the Doncaster player was on his own, so I got across and made myself as big as possible.

“It is always nice when the ball hits you in the face but you keep the ball out of the net. It happened really quickly, in seconds and it was a great feeling that the save came so late on in the game and it made sure we had the points.”
